Meet The Herd

Big Mama
This is Big Mama. She is our favourite milk goat, all of us have learned to milk with her. She is bursting with personality! She will maul you to death over food of any kind, she’s super laid back, answers when I call for her, and is the perfect petting zoo goat. She will walk right up to strangers for some scratches.
Mama is a Saanen and gives us a gallon a day at her peak.
She is our favourite. Her and her daughters Luna and Star were our very first goats. We have developed such a bond with her in these past 3 years. She made raising goats seem so easy we grew the herd up substantially! She will forever hold a special place in our hearts as our favourite milker and the goat we all learned from.
Mama’s undesirable trait? She stinks. She will burp or fart in your face with 0 guilt. She is always burping!
Mama freshened with a set of triplets on February 15, 2024.

Luna
Our girl Luna is a twin sister to Star from our favourite doe, Mama. She is a 3-year-old and a half Saanen half Nubian. Luna is our hardest to catch, and least affectionate of all our herd. This girl does her own thing, and would rather not be bothered by some pets or snuggles. Although she likes to keep her distance, she is an amazing milker. She catches onto the routine easily and is ready to do her job. Once she's done she heads right back out with the herd and would rather not be bothered the rest of the day.
Luna is quite interesting to milk. She has short teats that would normally be difficult to milk, but she has amazing dairy skin like her mama, making her easier to milk than her sister. I was hopeful she would get more of a bag like Mama, but so far she just has the dairy skin and a large quantity of milk... which I'm definitely not sad about!
She had given me single bucklings 2 years in a row and we are happy to announce we got a set of twins, one doe and one buckling on March 11, 2024.

Star
Twin sister to Luna, daughter to Mama.
Star has her mamas sweet personality. She will be in your pocket and your best friend whether you like her or not. She is extremely easy to catch, and her babies all seem to have that lovable personality as well. She has kidded twins 3 years in a row all by herself! She freshened on March 9th, 2024.

Indigo
Indigo is an Alpine Boer cross and triplet sister to Ivy and Ivory. She is a rich red colour with some white spots on her legs. She is still a bit shy and doesnt love to be caught. She is definitely the leader of the 3 and often has her head high and alert looking out for her sisters. She bred to Finn and kidded on March 12th, 2024 with a set of twin doelings.

June
Sweet June became ours because she wanted to be. She came from the same farm as Jessie and Sally and belonged to our neighbour. When Jessie and Sally started getting close to maturity, it was time to move them somewhere safe from our billy. Our two girls went to live with the neighbours for a while so we could build a pen for Buddy. And that's when June attached herself to our girls.
When we brought them home the neighbours goats came too to eat some pasture. When it was time for them to go, June went back too. She was not havin it and cried for a few days. The neighbour and I decided we should take her back, and that night I picked her up and bought her. She ran to the pasture and back to her herd and thats that!
She is a lot like Sally, laid back, quiet, loves attention, and snuggles. We love her and are happy to have her a part of our herd. She bred to Finn and kidded on April 23, 2024 with a single buckling.

Everest
This little girl I couldn’t say no to. We claimed her back in March and brought her home in June 2023. Her dam is an Alpine from great lines and her sire is a kiko. She is the perfect combo for our farm!
Everest was dam raised and is our least friendly of all our herd. She is slowly warming up, but isn’t in my pocket like the rest of the girls. She has a very gentle personality. She snuck in with the boys and bred to Finn, and freshened on March 12th, 2024 with a single, large buckling.
Everest fits right in with Jessie, Sally, and June, and the 4 of them are quite the group of besties.

Finn
This big guy is a purebred Kiko. Finn is our first meat line billy goat. He is a sweet guy, docile and keeps to himself. Finn comes from great lines and sired 14 kids this year. Finn is polled and gave us many polled kids. He also has the genetic trait for waddles and gave all of his kids at least one waddle.
